After the Pack Activity we were invited to a Birthday Party for one of the boys. After they were done bowling they had cake and ice cream - the Cake was on the flat bed of the boys toy semi. Really cute, something even I could do.  Then Blake headed home with his friend Owen for his first sleep over.

Cup Cakes & Couponing

Thanks to Fabulesslyfrugal for posting the Family Fun Rainbow Cup Cakes. Another cupcake to add to my every growing list of unique and fun cupcakes.  I made these for the boys the Sunday night. They were a little time consuming due to the mixing of the colors, then trying to layer them evenly in the 16 cup cake liners. The boys were impressed and wanted them for breakfast of course.

 Ingredients

  • White cake mix (we used an 18-1/4-ounce box) - I used a yellow cake mix - what I had on hand
  • Food coloring (red, blue, green, and yellow)
  • Baking cups
  • Whipped cream (optional)

    Instructions
Prepare your favorite white cake mix, then divide the batter evenly among six small bowls. Following the chart below, dye each bowl of batter a rainbow color.
      RAINBOW COLORDROPS OF FOOD COLORING
Purple9 red and 6 blue drops
      Blue12 drops
      Green12 drops
      Yellow12 drops
Orange12 yellow and 4 red drops
      Red18 drops
    1. Line 16 muffin pan wells with baking cups. Evenly distribute the purple batter among the cups, then the blue, and so on, following the order shown. As you go, gently spread each layer of batter with the back of a spoon to cover the color underneath.
    2. Bake the cupcakes according to your recipe directions. Before serving, remove the paper wrapping, and if you like, top each cupcake with a whipped-cream cloud.

I was disappointed that Albertson's was out of Post Honey Bunches of Oat's Raisin Medley thinking I'ld lost out on the "FREE" Post Cereal. It turned out that they could be used on other Honey Bunches of Oat's flavors so I got my "FREE" Cereals after all and paid only for the candy bars ($.96 for 2), Pretty Awesome Deal. Now we with my other good cereal deals we 3 months worth of cereal, will donate some to the Food Bank in April when we do our Scouting for Food Drive.

    More Pinewood Derby Races

Blake's Car before the Races Sat. March 5th, 2011

Ok so I've been a slow at updating since the District Pinewood Derby races were several weeks ago, like March 5th to be exact. We signed Blake's car in plus a couple other's on Friday night. Dad and the boys went over Sat to watch the Regatta and the Rockets race before the Cars & Semi's. I showed up in plenty of time for the races. They had fun although by the end they were definitely ready to leave. Blake was a little upset he didn't win a prize. That is par for the course with that many entries 25 from our Pack alone.

Part of the District Line up of Bear Cars

Just a Few of the Semi's - Blake's favorite was Max's National General Truck - there was an MSU Truck, Pepsi Truck, Coke Truck, Car Hauler and more. They were pretty fun to watch.

Lined up and ready to Race. Had some technical difficulties - so Blake's car raced several extra times. Each car was raced 4 times - once in each lane and the average speed was used from the 4 runs to determine the winners.
    Watching the cars race.

    The Races

We had our Pack Pinewood Derby Races Monday night. I'ld say it was a success. Wish I had more pictures, had to take Blake's when I got home. We got there just in time to set up and start Registering the boys and cars.  We had 29 awesome cars race down the track. It got a little loud at the end when we were done and trying to hand out awards and certificates. But all in all it went well. Would kinda like to be on the none event organizer side so I could get more pictures - or figure out how to multi task better
